VinFast electric scooters launched with battery rental options
VinFast has launched a pre-order programme for three e-scooter models in Indonesia—the VinFast Evo, VinFast Feliz II, and VinFast Viper—featuring a battery swapping system. Beyond its four-wheel products, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer is offering flexible battery ownership schemes for these electric scooter models. According to a press release received in Jakarta on Thursday, this move is an effort by VinFast to provide solutions to the challenges of two-wheeler electric vehicle adoption in Indonesia, particularly regarding charging convenience and battery ownership.
To this end, the company is providing not only the vehicles but also a battery ecosystem designed to meet the needs of various customer types. The batteries meet the European ECE-R136 standard for impact resistance and are equipped with various protection systems, including protection against overvoltage and overheating. Additionally, the batteries have passed environmental durability testing across a temperature range of minus 30 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius.
VinFast offers several options for battery ownership. In addition to purchasing the electric scooter along with its battery, customers can choose to rent the battery on a monthly basis or utilise VinFast’s battery swapping service. The battery rental fee is set at Rp84,000 per battery per month, while the swapping fee is Rp6,000 per battery for each swap. To bolster customer confidence, VinFast provides a battery warranty of up to six years or 72,000 kilometres.
The VinFast Evo is priced at Rp18.98 million (with battery subscription) and Rp26.26 million (including 2 batteries). The VinFast Feliz II is marketed at Rp20.1 million (with battery subscription) and Rp27.38 million (including 2 batteries). Meanwhile, the VinFast Viper is priced at Rp24.41 million (with battery subscription) and Rp31.69 million (including 2 batteries).
