VinFast Considers Adding a Speedometer to the VF MPV 7
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – VinFast Indonesia says it is still studying the addition of a speedometer panel on the VinFast VF MPV 7 after feedback from Indonesian consumers.
At present, vehicle speed information on the VF MPV 7 is still integrated into the central infotainment screen, so the driver has to look at the centre of the dashboard.
Head of Training Department VinFast Indonesia, Rinaldi Ginanjar Ramdani, said they have actually received various feedback concerning the absence of a conventional speedometer or a digital instrument cluster in front of the driver.
However, he noted that VinFast cannot yet implement changes to the locally produced model due to constraints of homologation.
“At present, because we are still in trial production, it will be quite constrained by homologation. So we have not had time to add an extra feature,” he said.
Rinaldi explained that every addition of a feature on locally assembled vehicles requires a fresh homologation process that takes a not-insignificant amount of time.
Therefore, the likelihood of adding a new instrument panel is more realistically realised in the next model update.
“Yes, it could be in a facelift version which is most feasible. Because, of course, when there is a feature addition we have to perform homologation again and that does take time,” he said.
“But we will certainly strive to accommodate what is indeed feedback or the wishes of Indonesian consumers,” he said.
