Villages in Penajam urged to tap into regional potential to boost community economy
Penajam Paser Utara - Villages in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, are urged to tap into their respective regional potentials to foster the community’s economy.
“Each village must explore its own potential, such as in the agriculture, fisheries, plantation, and other sectors,” stated the Regent of Penajam Paser Utara, Mudyat Noor, on Sunday, when asked about efforts to stimulate the people’s economy in the region.
He added that Village Funds must be strengthened to build business units that contribute to village income and the community’s economy.
The Penajam Paser Utara Regency Government is channelling Village Funds sourced from the 2026 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) of approximately Rp110 billion to 30 villages in the area.
Additionally, Village Funds sourced from the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) amounting to around Rp9 billion will be distributed to the 30 villages in Penajam Paser Utara Regency.
Village governments are urged to strengthen inter-village cooperation, both in human resource development and in bolstering business units managed by their respective Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).
Inter-village cooperation is necessary so that each business unit run by BUMDes can develop more quickly and contribute to village economic growth.
Proper targeting of Village Fund management will help keep village communities productive, even as the regency government faces budget limitations, according to Regent Mudyat Noor.
