Villagers left in the dark

TANGERANG: About 250 houses in Taban village, Jambe district,
Tangerang regency, are living without electricity.

"We have repeatedly asked state-owned electricity company PT
PLN to expand the electricity network here. But there is still no
electricity in several areas here," Taban village chief M. Ahana
said on Friday.

The village is situated about 2.1 kilometers from Tiga Raksa,
the capital of Tangerang.

The electricity network, however, has been expanded to include
the Takara golf course located next to the village.

Without electricity, the villagers have to use kerosene lamps
at night.

Some of the villagers said they had demonstrated at the local
council building about the situation, but there had still been no
action.

Councillor Fachrudin RS said he was concerned about the matter
and promised to speak with PLN about bringing electricity to the
villagers. -- Antara
