Village Official's Wife in Gunungkidul Apologises After Explicit Video Call Goes Viral

A woman identified as D, the wife of a hamlet head in Tanjungsari, Gunungkidul, has publicly apologised after screenshots of an explicit video call with another man went viral on social media. The apology was made in the presence of several community leaders and her husband. In her statement, D expressed regret for her actions, which had caused a stir among residents, and pledged not to repeat the behaviour. The case came to light after screenshots, allegedly from a WhatsApp video call, were widely circulated, sparking public discussion. Local community figures subsequently facilitated a meeting to resolve the matter amicably. Tanjungsari Police Chief AKP Agus Fitriyatna confirmed the incident, stating that the police were not involved in the mediation process and that no official report had been filed. Tanjungsari Sub-district Head Sri Intiyastuti acknowledged the event, noting that the hamlet head had coordinated with relevant parties. She emphasised that any sanctions would need to follow proper procedures, as the woman is a private citizen despite her husband’s official position.
