Village Minister urges SOEs and private sector to enhance support for villages

For the time being, many villages still possess potentials such as export villages, thematic villages, and climate-resilient villages, which have the potential to be developed collaboratively.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Village Minister and Underdeveloped Regions Development (Mendes PDT) Yandri Susanto has urged SOEs and the private sector to enhance their concern for villages, such as through the use of CSR for development and the enhancement of village potentials.

“For the time being, many villages still possess potentials such as export villages, thematic villages, and climate-resilient villages, which have the potential to be developed collaboratively,” said Village Minister Yandri at the CSR and Village Development Award 2026 event titled “Contributions from the Business World and Other Organisations in Supporting the Action Plan to Build Villages, Build Indonesia, to Achieve Asta Cita Towards Golden Indonesia 2045” at the Ministry of Villages’ office in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or corporate social responsibility is a sustainable commitment from companies to contribute positively to the economy, society, and environment around them.

At the event, the Ministry of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions Development also presented awards to local leaders who have shown strong commitment to village development using CSR from the business world.

“We thank the SOEs and the business world that have channelled CSR accurately and provided impact,” said Village Minister Yandri.

Furthermore, the Village Minister conveyed that CSR from the business world can be enjoyed by village residents through mentoring and empowerment programmes.

The Village Minister also stated that President Prabowo Subianto has directed the business world, SOEs, and officials to have mentor villages so that village development in Indonesia can be optimised.

On the same occasion, Chairman of the Indonesia Social Sustainability Forum Sudarmanto expressed gratitude that the CSR Awards 2026 Launch event went well. “This is an extraordinary momentum. Hopefully, it runs well,” he said.

The event was also attended by Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, Deputy Minister of Health (Wamenkes) Dante Saksono Harbuwono, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs (Wamensos) Agus Jabo Priyono, Deputy Minister of Tourism (Wamenpar) Ni Luh Enik Ermawati, Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry (Wamen LG) Diaz Hendropriyono, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, East Java Deputy Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak, North Maluku Deputy Governor Sarbin Sehe, South Sumatra Deputy Governor Cik Ujang, and Papua Deputy Governor Aryoko Alberto Ferdinand Rumaropen.
