Village Minister highlights importance of BUMDes publication to expand marketing
Digital media is a new market and shopfront for BUMDes. When a BUMDes has social media such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, a website, or other digital channels, it is opening the door for a wider public to see what it is doing, said Vice Minister for Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Ahmad Riza Patria, quoted in Jakarta on Monday.
He made the remarks when opening a socialisation event for Ministerial Decree Number 578 of 2026 on BUMDes Publication Guidelines and a capacity-building training on managing digital media, held at Janti Park in Janti Village, Polanharjo District, Klaten, on 26 August 2026.
On that occasion, the Vice Minister stressed that BUMDes are an important instrument for building village economic self-reliance. BUMDes, he continued, must be able to manage village potential, open business opportunities, create jobs, and provide services to the community.
The measure of a BUMDes’s success is not only how large its turnover, assets, and profits are, but how much the public knows, trusts, uses, and feels the benefits of the BUMDes’s existence, he said.
He further highlighted the diversity of BUMDes in Klaten, some of which manage water tourism, village markets, clean water, culinary businesses, internet services, trade, services, livestock, fisheries, and even waste management. However, he said, this potential needs to be maximised and introduced widely so that it is better known to the public and investors.
The Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions has issued Ministerial Decree Number 578 of 2026 on BUMDes Publication Guidelines to make it easier for BUMDes to manage communications and publications, and to provide direction on conveying information accurately, educationally, participatively, professionally, inclusively, accountably, and beneficially for the community.
The Vice Minister expressed hope that the capacity-building training on managing digital media would make BUMDes known to village communities, consumers, local governments, and even the national market.
Andi Nita expressed hope that through the training, BUMDes managers would be able to publicise village potential.
BUMDes managers are expected to carry out publication in a planned and consistent manner, which will ultimately increase the promotion of products and services as well as community participation, said Andi Nita.
She said Ministerial Decree Number 578 of 2026 on BUMDes Publication Guidelines would serve as a guide for managers in utilising digital media to publicise village potential and promotion.
