Village Heads Visit Jokowi's Solo Residence to Convey Aspirations

A number of village heads met with the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at his home in the Sumber area, Solo, Central Java, on Tuesday (1/9/2026). The purpose of the meeting with the former Mayor of Solo was to foster ties and convey aspirations regarding village policies and development.

Former member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD), Intsiawati Ayus, who participated in the meeting, explained that the discussion with Jokowi focused on understanding village conditions from various aspects. This included everything from infrastructure development to efforts to encourage villages to grow and develop effectively.

“Our conversation was primarily about how we understand the village atmosphere, across all aspects—from development to the social fabric. It was about how villages can grow and develop well. We require better policy treatment for our villages,” said Intsiawati.

During the meeting, 16 village heads representing various regions were recorded as present. The village heads were accompanied by several village government elements, such as the Village Consultative Body (BPD) and village officials.

“To be precise, we are sharing our experiences because we noted well during his leadership ten years ago that village growth and development were closely supervised by Mr Jokowi, both through regulations and other policies, ensuring that village apparatus could grow and develop well,” said one village head.

The village head mentioned that the representatives present came from several regions, including Banten, Lampung, Southeast Sulawesi, and South Kalimantan. He emphasised that these village heads were present to represent their respective regions across Indonesia. “Indeed, we are representing our regions within the Republic,” he said.

According to the village head, Jokowi was chosen as the person to meet because they felt that the policies and regulations during his presidency provided significant support for village development. “As I repeat, during his ten-year leadership, both the community and the village governments felt the impact of his policies,” he added.
