I Made NFK, a village head (perbekel) in Sawan District, Buleleng Regency, has been reported by Putu Agus Suriawan (35) on suspicion of fraud or embezzlement involving IDR 50 million. Previously, NFK had enticed the victim with promises of returning the money doubled within a week.

Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz, public relations officer for Buleleng Police, stated that the case originated from WhatsApp communication on Wednesday, 15 October 2025 at approximately 19:30 Wita. At that time, NFK contacted Agus to borrow IDR 50 million, promising to return IDR 100 million within a week.

“The accused, I Made NFK, contacted the victim and borrowed IDR 50 million on the pretext of withdrawing credit from a bank. He promised to return it within one week at IDR 100 million,” Yohana said on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Agus, an entrepreneur from Denpasar, was enticed by the promise. He transferred the funds in stages to NFK’s account: IDR 10 million, IDR 28 million, and IDR 12 million respectively. In total, Agus transferred IDR 50 million to NFK.

Less than a day later, the accused again requested an additional IDR 100 million with a promise of returning IDR 200 million. The victim rejected this request due to limited funds.

When the deadline arrived on 23 October 2025, the promised money had not been returned. Agus only received excuses. From 24 October through 8 November 2025, there was no return of funds.

Feeling deceived, Agus eventually filed a report with the police. The report was registered under case number LP/B/62/II/2026/SPKT/Polres Buleleng/Polda Bali on 28 February 2026.

“The victim suffered a loss of IDR 50 million. We have received the report and are currently conducting an investigation,” Yohana emphasised.

This case serves as a warning to the public not to be easily convinced by offers of money doubling in a short timeframe, even if they come from a government official.
