Village Head in Sleman Entangled in Village Treasury Land Mafia Case Again
A corruption case involving the misuse of village treasury land (TKD) has once again implicated a village official. This time, the Village Head of Condongcatur, Sleman, Reno Candra Sangaji, has been named a suspect for allegedly causing state losses of up to Rp 1 billion.
Head of Public Relations for the DIY Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Ihsan, explained that the case pertains to the utilisation of land in the Gandok Hamlet. Reno is suspected of leasing the land to 17 tenants without obtaining the necessary permit from the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). “According to the investigation results, the land is located in the Gandok Hamlet, Condongcatur. This land was leased without permission from the Governor of DIY, resulting in losses of approximately over Rp 1 billion,” Ihsan stated at the DIY Regional Police Headquarters on Tuesday (2/6/2026).
Reno has been designated a suspect since last week, though he has not yet been detained as the legal process is still ongoing. Investigators are currently conducting additional examinations to clarify the details of the case.
This incident is part of a recurring pattern of land mafia activities in Sleman. Several former village heads in the regency have previously been convicted of similar corruption offences:

Village Head of Candibinangun: Former official Sismantoro was sentenced to 4 years in prison and a fine of Rp 200 million for misusing village land for the development of ‘Jogja Eco Wisata’ (JEW) beyond permitted limits, causing losses of approximately Rp 781 million.
