Village Electrification Programme Expanded, PLN Targets 137,000 New Customers

PT PLN (Persero) is strengthening collaboration with the central government, regional governments, and various stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of the Village Electrification Programme. The government has allocated a budget of Rp 10.3 trillion for the first phase in 2026 to expand electricity access while supporting economic growth in various regions. This enhanced synergy was forged through the Village Electrification Programme Alignment Forum, which brought together the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Attorney General’s Office, regional governments, industry players, academics, associations, and PLN partners. Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of ESDM, Tri Winarno, stated that accelerating the programme requires accurate data to ensure it is precisely targeted. The government is also collaborating with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and the Attorney General’s Office to ensure the programme is implemented accountably. ‘Data validation is a crucial step to ensure no region is left behind in obtaining electricity access. We want to ensure all locations that truly need electricity can be identified so that the implementation of the Village Electrification Programme is right on target,’ Tri said in a statement on Friday (17/7/2026). PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that equitable electricity access is not only aimed at providing electrical networks but also at opening up economic opportunities, improving the quality of life, and strengthening national energy resilience. ‘We appreciate the direction from President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to realise equitable electricity access. This is not just a commitment, but must be realised through concrete actions,’ Darmawan said. According to Darmawan, the success of the Village Electrification Programme requires collaboration from all stakeholders so that the benefits can be felt by communities across various regions. Director of Strategic Electricity Development at the Ministry of ESDM, Andriah Feby Misna, said the government and PLN have prepared a roadmap for the Village Electrification Programme that is integrated with the New Connection Installation Assistance Programme (BPBL). ‘We are combining the Village Electrification Programme with BPBL so that underprivileged communities can obtain electricity connections, making the equal distribution of electricity access more effective,’ Andriah said.
