Village Electrification Programme Expanded, PLN Targets 137,000 New Customers
PT PLN (Persero) is strengthening collaboration with the central government, regional governments and various stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of the Village Electricity Programme. The government has allocated a budget of Rp 10.3 trillion in the first phase of 2026 to expand electricity access while supporting economic growth in various regions.
This synergy was reinforced through the Village Electricity Programme Alignment Forum, which brought together the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Attorney General’s Office, regional governments, industry players, academics, associations and PLN’s working partners.
Tri Winarno, Acting Director General of Electricity at the ESDM Ministry, said that accelerating the Village Electricity Programme requires accurate data so that its implementation is properly targeted. The government is also partnering with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and the Attorney General’s Office to ensure the programme is carried out accountably.
“Data validation is an important step to ensure no more regions are left behind in obtaining electricity access. We want to make certain that all locations genuinely in need of electricity can be properly identified, so that the Village Electricity Programme is truly on target,” said Tri in a statement on Friday (17 July 2026).
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that equalising electricity access is not merely about providing power networks, but also about opening up economic opportunities, improving people’s quality of life and strengthening national energy resilience.
“We appreciate the directives of President Prabowo Subianto and ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia to realise equitable electricity access. This is not just a commitment, it must be realised through concrete action,” said Darmawan.
According to Darmawan, the success of the Village Electricity Programme requires the collaboration of all stakeholders so that its benefits can be felt by communities across various regions.
Andriah Feby Misna, Director of Strategic Electricity Development at the ESDM Ministry, said the government together with PLN has drawn up a roadmap for the Village Electricity Programme that is integrated with the Electricity New Connection Assistance Programme (BPBL).
“We are combining the Village Electricity Programme with BPBL so that people who cannot afford it can obtain electricity connections, making the equalisation of electricity access more effective,” said Andriah.
