As President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka enter the second year of their administration, Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDMP) are continuing to be promoted as a driver of rural economic growth. The cooperatives are expanding market access for local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and helping rural business owners increase their income.

Several local business owners are beginning to feel the positive impact of the cooperatives. Rony, an MSME owner who sells honey, said his turnover had risen after his products were marketed through the Banjarsari KDMP.

“Thankfully, our turnover has increased by almost 50%,” Rony told detikcom recently.

He said his business’s turnover had risen from Rp50 million–Rp70 million to Rp100 million–Rp120 million.

“At first it was around Rp50 million to Rp70 million; now it has increased to around Rp100 million to Rp120 million,” he added.

Besides honey, Rony also markets products including calung, angkak, bumin and amusir through the Banjarsari KDMP. All the products have distribution permits and are sold through the cooperative at the village head’s request.

Anik, a housewife who has consigned fruit pickle and rempeyek (crispy savoury crackers) to the Dadapsari KDMP since August 2026, has had a similar experience. She usually supplies around 10–30 portions and prepares more stock when her goods sell out.

“I just started doing it for something to do. As a housewife, after finishing the housework, I make snacks that I can sell here,” Anik said.

She said consigning her goods to the KDMP had helped supplement her family’s income alongside her work at home.

Jampit Ludiro Sri Pamungkas, secretary of the Banjarsari Merah Putih Sub-district Cooperative (KKMP), said the cooperative, which began as a small business, had grown to generate turnover of more than Rp400 million.

“At first, the shop operated in the chairperson’s car garage. From there, we started a small MBO (Management by Objectives) retail business, which gradually evolved into a cooperative partnering with the community. From January to August 2026, we achieved total turnover of more than Rp400 million,” Jampit said.

He said the cooperative ran several programmes to encourage residents and MSME owners to join, including community outreach, providing shop products and services that meet residents’ needs, and digitisation through the MyKopkel app.

“We use digital platforms to meet the challenges of the times and dispel negative perceptions of cooperatives. The MyKopkel app provides a channel for interaction and a means of ensuring transparency to members and the community,” Jampit said.

He added that marketing through the app helped MSMEs reach a broader market and increase their potential transactions.

“Based on information from MSME owners, their turnover has increased. Digital marketing through the app helps them reach a wider market and generate more potential transactions (leads),” Jampit said.
