The Ministry of Co-operatives said managers of Merah Putih Village/Urban-Ward Co-operatives (KDKMP) would continue to receive salaries even if the co-operatives where they are assigned are not yet fully ready to operate.

Destry Anna Sari, the ministry’s Deputy for Co-operative Talent and Competitiveness Development, said managers at co-operatives that were not yet operating at full capacity were still carrying out preparations for business activities.

Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (16 October 2026), she said those preparations included mapping retail needs, consolidating products owned by the co-operatives and preparing operational requirements.

She said a manager’s duties were not limited to overseeing an outlet, but also covered preparing and developing the co-operative’s business.

Destry added that the government had budgeted for managers’ salaries for the period from October to December 2026.

“Salaries range from Rp6.8 million to Rp9.3 million, depending on the district or municipal minimum wage, plus a general allowance,” she said.

Performance indicators for KDKMP managers include sales and transaction targets, increasing co-operative membership and consolidating the products owned by the co-operatives.

She said 26,911 managers had signed employment contracts out of 28,624 people who had completed the recruitment and certification stages. The managers had also been assigned to co-operatives in various parts of Indonesia.

Destry said 10,070 KDKMP sites were currently operating, with their operations being monitored by the central government.

She explained that the government classifies a KDKMP as operational if it has a building constructed by the government through an assignment to PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, is equipped with supporting facilities and a manager, and has been built using a budget of around Rp3 billion.
