Village Access Opens, Banten Provincial Government Records Positive Economic Trend
The Provincial Government of Banten has recorded a positive economic growth trend thanks to its commitment to road infrastructure development in rural areas, which has successfully opened access and strengthened inter-regional connectivity.
Banten Governor Andra Soni stated in Serang on Saturday that opening village access through the ‘Bang Andra’ prosperous village road programme is a strategic intervention by the regional government, considering that high citizen mobility often cannot be fully handled by relying solely on Village Funds.
“This policy is also aligned with President Prabowo Subianto’s eighth Asta Cita, which focuses on building from the village for economic equality,” he said.
Throughout 2025, the Banten Provincial Government, through the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR), completed the construction of 62 road segments and one bridge spanning a total length of 71 kilometres with a budget of IDR 184 billion.
This development continues in 2026 with an allocation of IDR 164 billion to handle 33 village road segments totalling 46.71 kilometres spread across six regencies and cities.
Regarding the target locations, Head of the Banten Province DPUPR, Arlan Marzan, explained that the work on these dozens of road segments was based on direct proposals from village and sub-district governments that had undergone a feasibility survey.
“We ensure these roads are right on target. The main criterion is that the road supports vital community activities, such as ease of access to schools, health services, markets, and access supporting the agricultural sector,” Arlan stated.
The availability of smooth and adequate rural infrastructure has proven to provide a significant multiplier effect on the region’s macroeconomy. Based on statistical records, in the first quarter of 2026, Banten’s economic growth rate was recorded as growing positively at 5.64 percent year-on-year.
Furthermore, the smooth logistics and distribution of agricultural products thanks to the new road access have triggered a surge in production in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors, reaching 17.88 percent.
The real impact on the welfare of village communities is also reflected in farmers’ purchasing power. Banten’s Farmer Terms of Trade (NTP) index at the end of 2025 successfully reached a level of 111.81 percent, while the Agricultural Business Terms of Trade (NTUP) stood at 117.43 percent, indicating an increase in farmers’ business capacity.
“The roads built today must become a link for growing the economy, increasing investment, and opening greater opportunities for village communities. Of course, building Banten cannot be done alone; it requires collaboration from all parties,” he explained.
