Villa Warehouse in Nusa Penida Caught Fire, Discovered While Staff Were Serving Guests
The back-of-house (BOH) building, or housekeeping storage warehouse, of Emana Aruna Villas in Banjar Biaung, Ped Village, Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali, caught fire on Sunday (4/10/2026) afternoon. The fire was discovered while staff were attending to guests.
“There were no fatalities or injuries in this incident. However, material losses are estimated to reach approximately Rp 500 million,” said the Head of Public Relations for the Klungkung Police, Iptu I Dewa Nyoman Alit Purnawibawa, when confirmed.
Alit explained that the fire was noticed around 5:15 PM WITA. At that time, a front office staff member named Ni Kadek Handayani had just escorted guests for the check-in process.
While standing in front of the front office area, Handayani saw thick plumes of smoke rising from the housekeeping storage warehouse. She then alerted the housekeeping staff and reported the incident to the Operations Manager of Emana Aruna Villas.
The Operations Manager of Emana Aruna Villas subsequently contacted the police and the fire department. Shortly after, engineering staff, alongside local residents, worked together to attempt to rescue salvageable items and perform initial firefighting efforts.
Officers from the Nusa Penida Police Sub-district, upon arriving at the scene, worked in synergy with firefighters to extinguish the blaze. “The fire was only fully extinguished at around 6:46 PM WITA after joint officers and residents struggled to contain the flames,” Alit explained.
As a result of the fire, all housekeeping supplies and several items belonging to vendors stored within the warehouse were completely destroyed. The Criminal Investigation Unit (Reskrim) of the Nusa Penida Police Sub-district is still conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the fire that razed the building.
