Villa collapses, kills four in Bogor

BOGOR: Four people, including two children, died in a landslide caused by the collapse of a villa on Jl. Kompo, Cipayung village in Megamendung district, Bogor regency, on Friday night.

The villa reportedly belonged to the family of the late Susilo Sudarman, former coordinating minister for political and security affairs.

The victims, identified as Nyai, 60, and her relatives Dading, 32, Siti Nuraini, 11, and Rahmat Sadilah, 7, were in their house when the landslide occurred at 11 p.m.

A survivor, Nyai's son Jajat, believes the landslide was caused by heavy rain that in the area at 8 p.m.

Jajat, along with the victims, were watching television at the time.

Several other houses were also damaged in the landslide, with several people sustaining injuries.

Local residents vented anger at the manager of the villa for not repairing it, saying one of its walls had developed a crack in December.--JP
