The Jakarta Provincial Government is hastening the construction of the KRL Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. The project is targeted for completion in May 2026 and to begin operations in June 2026, coinciding with Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary (HUT). Based on Kompas.com’s observations at the site on Saturday (11/4/2026), the construction not only focuses on the platform and station entrance area but also on connectivity to the JIS-Ancol Pedestrian Overpass (JPO), which is approximately 466 metres long. The canopy frame made of iron is still in the process of being painted green. That 100-metre pathway is also equipped with a staircase 5.1 metres high as a connection to the JPO. The connecting staircase is still in the construction phase. Several iron plates that serve as the staircase treads have only recently been installed. Nevertheless, the staircase structure has already been painted dark green, while the iron canopy frame is black and has been installed. However, the connecting staircase section is not yet fully equipped with a canopy. Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the construction of the JIS Station is targeted for completion in May 2026. After that, the station is planned to start operating in June 2026, coinciding with the Jakarta Anniversary celebrations. “In May this month, next month hopefully the KRL for JIS will also be finished, so that in June it becomes a birthday gift for Jakarta,” said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (9/4/2026).
