View of the Land in IKN Where the MPR-DPR Building Will Be Constructed

President Prabowo Subianto has signed the design for the construction of the Legislative and Judicial Complex in the Nusantara Capital (IKN). This signing is one of the steps to strengthen Nusantara as the centre of government and Indonesia’s political capital. Appreciation for the determination of the design was expressed by the leadership of the Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat (MPR) during a working visit to the legislative complex construction site on Monday (20/04/2026). This visit also directly reviewed the readiness and progress of national institutional infrastructure development in IKN. The construction of the Legislative and Judicial Complex was contracted at the end of 2025, then underwent adjustments in early 2026 in accordance with the President’s instructions regarding design improvements. The design process was carried out through comparative studies to various countries, including Turkey, India, and Egypt, to present a representative, functional concept that reflects national identity. “The President signed the design last week. The target completion for the legislative and judicial complex is in 2027, and at the latest in the first semester of 2028. The President emphasised that the philosophy of the building must be firm, straight, and authoritative, because from this complex, major national decisions will be produced,” said Basuki.
