Vietnam's Rice Exports Projected to Reach 5 Million Tonnes in First Half of 2026
Vietnam is expected to export around 5 million tonnes of rice in the first six months of 2026, generating revenue of 2.36 billion US dollars, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Thursday, citing the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The report revealed that during the period, export volume is projected to increase by 5.7 per cent year-on-year, but the export value is forecast to fall by 3.3 per cent due to lower prices. The ministry stated that the global rice market continues to be influenced by geopolitical factors that put pressure on supply and demand, as well as trigger caution in trading activities. The ministry conveyed that the easing of tensions in the Middle East is expected to support a recovery in trade activity, although the global energy market may still require time to fully recover.
