Vietnam upbeat over D. Cup matches
JAKARTA: Vietnam is upbeat about its prospects in the Davis Cup, which is scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka in the next couple of weeks, after embarking on a three-week training regime on the clay courts of the Bung Karno tennis outdoor in Central Jakarta.
"We are looking for the number one, or at least the number two position. I'm sure we can do the job after we having trained here," Vietnam's technical director and coach Tran Trong Anh Tu said here on Wednesday.
The team, which will also be playing in the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in December, comprises six men and four women.
They will leave home on Sunday before heading to Colombo two days later for the Group Four matches in the Davis Cup.
Also playing in Colombo are Bangladesh, Brunei, Iraq, Jordan, Myanmar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka. --JP
