Vietnam to tighten UAV monitoring
Hanoi (ANTARA) - Local daily Thanh Nien reported on Tuesday (18/8) that the Vietnamese government has ordered relevant agencies and local authorities to tighten management and monitoring measures for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The order was issued following incidents involving several UAVs entering controlled airspace, disrupting flight operations at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, the aviation hub of the southern region, on 11 August. Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence has been asked to review and require organisations and individuals owning UAVs to register their aircraft, as well as ensure that all UAVs operating in the country are digitally identified, obtain permits electronically, and are subject to real-time flight monitoring by 2030. The report also stated that the ministry has been tasked with announcing to the public no-fly zones and restricted areas for UAVs so that organisations and individuals are aware of and comply with the regulations.
