Vietnam tightens regulations on migrant workers going abroad

Hanoi (ANTARA) - Vietnam’s National Assembly has passed a revised draft labour law that will tighten regulations on overseas employment for contract workers, local media Tuoi Tre reported on Monday. The revised law prohibits Vietnamese migrant workers from taking jobs abroad that violate national security, social order and security, or social morality, or that endanger the health of workers and the public, as well as jobs not permitted by the receiving country. The law prohibits the organisation of overseas employment as well as the recruitment, preparation, and dispatch of Vietnamese workers to areas affected by armed conflict or areas that competent authorities advise against visiting or recommend visiting with restrictions. The law also prohibits Vietnamese contract workers from taking jobs as masseurs abroad, and prohibits organisations from sending workers overseas for such work. The revised law will take effect on 1 March 2027, according to a government news portal.
