Vietnam submits 2003 Games bid
HANOI (AP): A proposal for Vietnam to host the 2003 Southeast Asian Games was to be submitted Wednesday to the government for consideration, the Thanh Nien newspaper reported.
Under the proposal, Hanoi, five northern provinces and the southern hub of Ho Chi Minh City would be the sites of the competition.
Vietnam also set a target of ranking third at the games, which are held every two years.
Vietnam finished fifth at the last games in Jakarta in 1997. The next competition is scheduled for Brunei in August.
