Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Amidst various narratives of national economic optimism, one reality remains a major challenge for Indonesia: employment. Data from the Central Statistics Agency shows that as of November 2025, the number of unemployed in the country still reaches 7.35 million people. A figure that cannot be dismissed as mere statistics.

Ironically, the majority of the unemployed come from productive and educated age groups, dominated by vocational and secondary school graduates, followed by degree holders and diploma graduates. Even alumni of the LPDP scholarship programme do not guarantee employment. This fact sends a strong signal that education has not fully become a bridge to the working world.

What is actually happening? Why is the job market not commensurate with the number of graduates? These questions are explored by Crysania Suhartanto in the CNBC Indonesia Power Lunch programme (Friday, 27 February 2026).
