Video: Will State Revenue Soar if Bahlil Increases Coal Production?
The Chairman of the Indonesian Mining and Energy Forum (IMEF), Singgih Widagdo, has outlined several positive impacts if the government officially revises the 2026 Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) for the mineral and coal sector by increasing coal production quotas. If coal production is raised to 670-700 million tonnes from the 2026 RKAB figure of 600 million tonnes, it will increase Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) in line with rising exports and current coal selling prices. However, IMEF cautions on the importance of a management strategy for the mineral and coal RKAB relaxation, as it relates to the continuity of mining operations. IMEF assesses that this relaxation is aimed at increasing export quotas and boosting state foreign exchange reserves.
