Stephen Mulyadi, President Director of PT Terang Dunia Internusa Tbk (UNTD), stated that the massive development of electric vehicle (EV) technology in China is the primary reason UNTD is collaborating with China to develop its electric motorcycle business.

In an effort to increase the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), the company continues to push for local raw material supplies and reduce dependence on imported Chinese materials. Currently, the full assembly process, electric motorcycle frame manufacturing, and electric battery production have begun to be established domestically.

Business players also hope for support from the Indonesian government in the development of the EV industry, including regulatory certainty and clarity regarding the planned incentives for 100,000 electric motorcycles and cars in 2026, as this directly impacts public interest in purchasing electric vehicles.

Amidst global geopolitical volatility, the weakening of the Rupiah exchange rate is also impacting the EV industry due to the rising cost of imported raw materials.
