Video: War! Would-be Umrah Pilgrims Cancel Travel in Droves
Jakarta — CNBC Indonesia reports that the Iran–United States war, which has been ongoing since 28 February 2026, continues to widen, causing flight disruptions and the suspension of operations at several international airports in the Middle East region. This condition has impacted Umrah travel to and from Saudi Arabia, although direct flights from Indonesia to Jeddah without transit through conflict-affected countries can still operate. It is recorded that around 85 Umrah pilgrims are stranded in Saudi Arabia and unable to return to the homeland. The situation has also led some would-be Umrah pilgrims to cancel their trips until conditions become more conducive. Furthermore, with no clear end in sight to the war, it could threaten the 2026 Hajj season. What is the impact of the US–Iran war on Umrah pilgrims?
