Video: Using EVs, Is the Logistics Business Ready to Expand into Rural Areas?

The Indonesian government’s ongoing commitment to accelerating the national energy transition is a driving sentiment behind the transformation of the logistics business towards ‘green logistics’ through the use of electric-based modes of transport or Electric Vehicles (EV). This opportunity is being seized by Dash Electric, a logistics start-up, which is providing green infrastructure in the form of electric vehicles to support logistics needs extending to rural areas. Dash Electric CEO Aditya Brahmana stated that the potential for EV use in rural areas is very large, considering that the logistics system in these regions is generally repetitive, with predictable delivery points. This characteristic is highly suitable for EV use in the logistics business, which requires high utilisation and a delivery range that must be predictable according to battery capacity, amidst the limited availability of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU). Nonetheless, a number of challenges remain, including the availability of SPKLU, charging downtime, spare part availability, and the limitations of the broader EV ecosystem support in rural areas.
