Video: Using EVs Can Boost Business Profits, VinFast Boss Reveals the Calculations

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Antonio Zara, CEO of VinFast Southeast Asia, has revealed a number of advantages in adopting electric vehicles, from improving efficiency and cutting costs to supporting the country’s energy transition programme.

One of VinFast’s flagship electric cars is the MPV 7, a seven-seat family vehicle offered at a price of around Rp330 million, with free charging for two years. Compared with other commercial vehicles, which incur operating costs of more than Rp900,000 for a monthly distance of 400–500 kilometres, EVs prove far more economical.

As technology develops, VinFast continues to develop electric vehicles that can meet the needs of both retail and commercial customers, including by building a manufacturing plant in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, automotive observer Bebin Djuana noted that commercial electric vehicles are the EV segment with the greatest growth potential. In Indonesia, the use of electric taxis has become increasingly widespread, in line with growing awareness of the role of EVs, as demonstrated by VinFast through the Green SM taxi service. However, the development of EVs requires ecosystem support, including the provision of charging stations, known as SPKL (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations).
