Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Group CEO of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), Hery Gunardi, in an Economic Update confirmed the readiness of the BRI Group to support national economic growth, including through the priority programmes of President Prabowo’s administration. BRI possesses a system, branch office network, and BRILink services spread across the remotest parts of Indonesia, supported by competent human resources to drive the economy, including through the distribution of KUR and social assistance. BRI is also ensuring the maintenance of business growth and credit quality as the BI Rate rises to 5.75%, considering that BRI’s credit distribution in government programmes such as KUR has a fixed rate. Nevertheless, the bank continues to strengthen risk management by optimising sectors with good prospects. In an effort to maintain long-term growth, BRI has implemented a transformation programme to increase operational effectiveness and boost both credit and non-credit income. This transformation focuses on reducing the cost of funds and the cost of credit, carried out through optimising branch office infrastructure, BRILink services, increasing BRImo programmes and transactions, and mobilising business merchants. On the microcredit side, BRI is improving business processes by utilising technology, which has an impact on increasing interest income while simultaneously reducing provisioning. Furthermore, through BRIvolution Reignite, BRI is also promoting strategic initiatives to address the increasingly tight challenges of the banking industry. BRI is also undertaking a rebranding so that it is not only a strong bank in rural areas but is also capable of providing services in urban areas, carried out through the consumer segment, including wealthy customers and private banking. BRI also continues to drive growth engines through business diversification. Regarding BBRI’s plan to conduct a share buyback of a maximum of Rp500 billion from 12 June to 11 September 2026 using the company’s internal cash, Hery Gunardi stated that this strategy is part of the corporation’s response to stock market developments.
