Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Director General of Advanced Health at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Azhar Jaya, has assured that the acceleration of the construction of 66 hospitals in remote, border, and island areas (DTPK) is part of the Best Quick Results Programme (PHTC) or President Prabowo’s Quick Win.

In addition, the Ministry of Health is promoting advanced health transformation that will change Indonesia’s healthcare service system in three aspects: competency-based referrals so patients are referred according to diagnosis, standard inpatient classes with a maximum of four beds per room and en-suite bathrooms, and changes in disease diagnosis.

Specifically, for the competency-based referral programme, district hospitals must be at the Madya stratum to handle 60% of major diseases prevalent in society, allowing 80% of disease cases to be managed at the relevant province.

The Ministry of Health targets this hospital transformation to improve services so the public no longer needs to seek treatment abroad, given the high competence of Indonesian doctors. One step to encourage doctors to serve patients and increase the number of doctors is that once the number of doctors is sufficient, practice permits (SIP) for doctors will be limited to a maximum of two, specifically on Java island.

What is the hospital transformation like? For more details, watch the dialogue between Syafinaz Nachiar and the Director General of Advanced Health at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Azhar Jaya, in Closing Bell, CNBC Indonesia (Thursday, 16/04/2026).
