Video: To Prevent Unit Link Fraud, OJK: Agents & Customers Must Understand the Product

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - CNBC Indonesia held an Insurance Forum with the theme “Optimising Insurance Protection & New Directions for Unit Link Development in Indonesia” as a forum for regulators, associations and insurance professionals to seek solutions in driving growth and accelerating the transformation of the national insurance business.

Improvements and strengthening of PAYDI (Investment-Linked Insurance Products) or Unit Link were mentioned by the Head of the OJK’s Supervision of Insurance, Guarantee and Pension Funds, Ogi Prastomiyono, as one of the reforms in the Indonesian insurance industry.

Currently, a number of policies issued by the OJK serve as guidelines for insurance companies issuing Unit Links, which must be complied with and reported back to the OJK. These include improvements to products, sales processes and agents.

From the OJK’s review, the reform of Unit Link products has been well received by insurance companies, including the strengthening of Circular Letter No. 5/2025 regarding PAYDI products, which will be upgraded to a POJK (OJK Regulation). One of the improvements related to PAYDI is to encourage understanding among agents and prospective customers regarding investment risks in Unit Links, which is the responsibility of policyholders, and agents and the industry that do not comply with OJK regulations will be subject to sanctions.
