Cow’s milk is an important source of nutrition for the public, while also offering significant opportunities for the growth of Indonesia’s dairy industry. Domestic demand continues to rise as awareness of the importance of nutrition grows and the Free Nutritious Meals programme is introduced.

However, higher consumption has not been matched by sufficient domestic production. As a result, Indonesia still depends on imports to meet most of its national milk requirements.
