Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Executive Secretary of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Sarwo Edhy, has confirmed the government’s efforts to safeguard price stability and national food stocks during Ramadan and Idul Fitri 1447 H/2026 celebrations.

Bapanas has a number of price and stock stabilisation programmes, ranging from strengthening government food reserves and regional food reserves, carrying out the Cheap Food Movement down to the subdistrict/village level, and operating the Food Distribution Facilitation (FDP) programme to distribute food from surplus to deficit areas.

In addition, Bapanas has formed the Food Fraud Eradication Task Force (Satgas Saber Pangan) which involves the police (Polri), the Home Affairs Ministry (Kemendagri), the Trade Ministry (Kemendag), and the Agriculture Ministry (Kementan) to monitor strategic staples – namely rice, corn, soybeans, meat, eggs, cooking oil, onions and chilies, as well as salt and sugar for domestic consumption.

The Saber Pangan Task Force will ensure the availability of stock and price stability; if there is a surge in food prices, the causes will be investigated and mitigations implemented. If there are instances of hoarding or large-scale price manipulation, those involved will be taken to task and licences revoked.

Separately, Bapanas also runs a stimulus Food Aid programme in February–March 2026 amounting to 10 kg of rice and 2 kg of cooking oil for 33.5 million Beneficiary Families nationwide.
