Indonesia’s economic growth for the second quarter of 2026 was recorded at 5.29% year-on-year (yoy), remaining positive but lower than the first quarter’s 5.61% (yoy). CNBC Indonesia Economist, Maesaroh, noted that the decline in GDP in Q2-2026 is inseparable from the annual cycle following the end of the Ramadan, Eid, and Lunar New Year period, which typically boosts public consumption before a subsequent slowdown. On the other hand, Indonesia’s Q2-2026 GDP performance was still better and showed growth compared to the previous year, supported by the food and beverage sector and personal care. Additionally, the non-oil and gas processing industry also grew, which is expected to increase employment absorption alongside high investment growth.
