Video: Supporting Indonesia's Renewable Energy Targets, Solar Power Business Owners Request 4 Things from the Government
Business operators in the renewable energy sector have positively received President Prabowo Subianto’s step in forming the Energy Transition Acceleration Task Force to accelerate renewable energy development towards Indonesia’s energy sovereignty target within 3-5 years, led by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia. CEO of SUN Energy, Emmanuel Jefferson Kuesar, stated that the task force’s duties, one of which focuses on building solar power plants up to 100 GW, become a ‘game changer’ for solar power plants because it can address obstacles related to overlapping regulations while serving as a commitment to the implementation of accelerating renewable energy. SUN Energy mentioned that currently, there are at least four challenges in developing the renewable energy sector for solar power plants, namely the execution of renewable energy development targets such as the 1 Gigawatt renewable energy target in 2026 still lacks clarity regarding tenders and development plans. In addition, the industry also needs incentives for developers to accelerate development and increase competitiveness, given that the technology and human resources are already ready. On the other hand, solar power plant developers request certainty regarding electricity selling prices related to competitiveness, in addition to needing financing support, PLN infrastructure readiness, and legal certainty for long-term renewable energy investments.
