Video: Supply Disruptions and High Gas Prices, Ceramic Entrepreneurs Cry Out

Supply disruptions from PGN at the start of 2026 have disrupted the performance and competitiveness of the national ceramic industry, according to Edy Suyanto, Chairman of the Indonesian Ceramic Industry Association (Asaki). Edy stated that since August 2025, gas supplies have frequently been delayed, resulting in production utilisation reaching only 70% of the targeted 80%. Additionally, the gas price of USD 6 MMBTU in 2020 has increased to USD 6.5 MMBTU in 2024 and up to USD 7 MMBTU in 2025. On the other hand, supply disruptions have compelled entrepreneurs to obtain gas from other sources at high prices of USD 10 - USD 10.5 MMBTU. Meanwhile, Asaki continues to receive government support regarding domestic market guarantees through the implementation of SNI and anti-dumping regulations on ceramic imports from China and others, so hopes for expansion persist.
