Video: Strengthening Unit-Linked Governance, OJK Regulates Agent-Police Reporting
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - CNBC Indonesia hosted the Insurance Forum under the theme ‘Optimalisasi Proteksi Asuransi & Arah Baru Pengembangan Unit Link di Indonesia’ as a platform for regulators, associations and insurance professionals to seek solutions to drive growth and accelerate the transformation of the national insurance business.
The Executive Head of Insurance Supervision, Reinsurance, and Pension Funds stated that 2025 will be a year full of challenges for the insurance industry as efforts to push structural improvements in the sector continue.
OJK notes that the insurance industry’s assets reached IDR 1,201 trillion with stable annual growth of 6% and in line with OJK targets; by 2026 it is projected to grow by 5-6%.
In terms of premiums, for commercial insurance it stood at IDR 331 trillion, down 1.46% year-on-year, due to life insurance products reflecting improvements in product design and distribution and global sentiment. Meanwhile, claims fell 4.85% (year-on-year) to IDR 216 trillion; governance strengthening and enhanced supervision by OJK have been refined through POJK 26 and 27/2025.
OJK also confirms efforts to strengthen consumer protection and is currently discussing the development of an Insurance Policy Guarantee programme as part of the PPSK Act mandate. On the other hand, PJK promotes strengthening the governance competencies of managers up to agents of insurance companies and improvements to the data-based governance of insurance policies that must be reported to OJK.
Regarding risk management, OJK has implemented PSAK 117 for insurance contracts and PSAK 109 for financial instruments. It also notes improvements and reviews of PAYDI (Insurance Products Linked to Investment) or Unit-Linked and health insurance products.
