Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Amid global geopolitical volatility and disruptions to the global energy supply chain, the Government of Indonesia is pushing upstream oil and gas reforms as part of a strategy to achieve national energy resilience. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) continues to push upstream reforms to realise self-sufficiency and energy sovereignty. This policy focuses on reducing import dependence through production optimisation and improving the investment climate. Looking at the efforts and potential of Indonesia’s oil and gas sector, Jereh Global, a leading global energy company from China, regards Indonesia as a country in the Asia-Pacific region with great potential as a market and for the development of the oil and gas sector. Wesley Liu, GM Southeast Asia at Jereh Global, said that in the last 15 years Jereh Global has cooperated in supporting Pertamina to achieve a target production of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) by 2030 through providing compressor infrastructure and gas technology equipment. Currently Jereh Global is working on one gas installation project for the Cirebon–Semarang Gas Transmission Pipeline Phase 2 on Java and preparing to expand to Sumatra next year.
