Video: Strategies to Secure State Financial Audits from Cyber Attacks
In the era of digital transformation, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) is strengthening its use of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to support the state financial audit process.
Pinky Dezar Zulkarnain, Director of Information Technology at BPK RI, stated that modernisation and digital strengthening efforts have been ongoing since 1998, evolving into a full digital transformation in 2020. This initiative is designed to increase the utility of BPK’s audit results, making audits easier to conduct and follow up on. Each year, BPK is tasked with auditing the financial reports of 542 local governments and 89 central government agencies; digital transformation ensures this process becomes increasingly easy, efficient, and transparent.
Simultaneously, BPK continues to bolster cybersecurity within its financial auditing processes. This is achieved through international-standard protections for BPK’s information systems via ISO 27001 certification, as well as the formation of a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). This team operates as part of the Indonesian CSIRT established by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
