The government continues to encourage mobile operators to strengthen digital infrastructure, including anti-scam systems and the blocking of telephone numbers indicated to be involved in fraud and spam, in order to provide a sense of security and increase the trust of millions of customers in Indonesia.

Reski Damayanti, Director and Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer of PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk (ISAT), stated that scams and spam are not merely digital security issues but are also closely linked to the issue of ‘trust’, which is essential for increasing the adoption of digital technology vital to national economic progress.

ISAT is not only building connectivity but also ensuring efforts to increase customer trust through anti-spam and anti-scam features, known as SATSPAM. Since August 2025, these features have blocked approximately 200 million calls and 90 million SMS messages.

To combat the threats of spam and scams originating from both domestic and international ecosystems, the operator industry is collaborating with the entire digital ecosystem, including banking, OTP services, and payment systems. ISAT noted that the most frequent occurrences of spam and scams take place within the shopping and investment ecosystems.
