Video: Six Smelters Seized From Prabowo, PT Timah's Plan

Jakarta – PT Timah Tbk (TINS) said that Ilhamsyah Mahendra, Director of Production & Commercial at PT Timah, continues to push the development of Indonesia’s tin industry through downstream tin smelters to boost competitiveness and value added of Indonesia’s tin. Through its subsidiary, TINS is developing tin processing products, namely Tin Metal or ingots, into higher-value products such as tin solder and tin chemical. However, Indonesia’s tin downstream still faces constraints from limited domestic absorption, which remains low, resulting in a reliance on 70% of demand from the Asia-Pacific region. Regarding the handover of management of six smelters from the government, TINS is in the process of completing the mechanism to transfer management rights to PT Timah. Once operational, TINS’s tin metal or ingot production capacity could jump to above 100,000 tonnes per year. What is TINS’s downstream strategy?
