Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has released a video showing the moment Kuwait International Airport was hit by a drone. The video shows an Iranian drone crashing into the terminal on June 3rd.

“The first moment of Iran’s brutal aggression through a drone, which targeted Terminal 1 (T1) of Kuwait International Airport on June 3, 2026,” the DGCA wrote on its X account @Kuwait_DGCA, Thursday (June 4, 2026).

“Causing loss of life, serious human injuries, and severe material damage,” it added.

The video shows several locations taken from the airport’s CCTV. The first location shows the outside of the terminal, when suddenly a drone falls, piercing the left side of the terminal roof, causing an explosion of fire and thick black smoke.

Not far from the location, a row of planes can be seen. The area outside the airport is also still filled with people during the day.

Another video shows the parking lot near the terminal building during the incident. The explosion surprised the location. There is also a situation inside the terminal during the attack. Several people are seen walking in the area and suddenly panic as the building collapses.

Iranian Comment

Meanwhile, Iran denies deliberately targeting the passenger terminal. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) previously claimed that the damage was likely caused by a US Patriot missile launched to defend US bases in Kuwait from Iranian attacks.

“Our investigation and research into the attack on the Kuwait passenger terminal shows that the IRGC air force did not fire at this target,” said an IRGC spokesman.

“The destruction was caused by an error in the American Patriot system after an interceptor failed to hit an Iranian missile and landed in the terminal,” he added.

The incident occurred after exchanges of fire between the US and Iran. The IRGC said it had launched attacks on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, including the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet, after a US attack on Qeshm Island.

The US Department of War, the Pentagon, claimed that Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait failed to reach their targets, and said that two projectiles failed or broke up in flight. Kuwait said its air defenses responded to the missile and drone attacks during the incident.

Casualties

On the other hand, citing AFP, Ministry of Health spokesman Abdullah al-Sanad said 25 ambulances were sent to Kuwait International Airport. Dozens of people were injured in the explosion, including head injuries, brain hemorrhages, amputations and serious unspecified injuries.

“They include civilians, and people who work at the airport and tourists,” he added, saying the attack had damaged an unnamed diplomatic mission.

In a separate statement, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said one of its citizens was killed at the airport and condemned the attack. He was identified as a traveler.
