Video: QRIS Goes Global, Costs and Exchange Rate Volatility Become Challenges

Alison Jap, a member of the Ethics Council of the Indonesian FinTech Association (AFTECH), has assured that payment gateway services support the improvement of quality, smoothness, and security for QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) services, both domestically and across countries. At present, QRIS services are available in ASEAN, Japan, South Korea, and China, and Bank Indonesia plans to expand the service to the Middle East. Therefore, Bank Indonesia authorities and payment gateway players continue to enhance QRIS services, including optimising interoperability capabilities to integrate cross-border payments more efficiently, quickly, and securely. For SMEs, issues of costs and exchange rate fluctuations remain challenges in cross-border QRIS transactions.
