Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto will deliver the Macro Economic Framework and the Core Policy of Fiscal Policy (KEM-PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN in the plenary session of the DPR RI’s 19th Session of the Fifth Year, 2025-2026. Prabowo said that Indonesia currently faces global economic and geopolitical challenges; therefore the Government is responsible for the welfare of the Indonesian people. The RAPBN is thus a tool to protect and promote welfare. In the KEM-PPKF RAPBN 2027, revenues are targeted at 11.82% - 12.40% of GDP to support priority programmes, with a budget deficit of 1.8% - 2.4% of GDP. The rupiah is targeted at IDR 16,800 - 17,500 per US dollar, with economic growth targeted at 5.8% - 6.5%. Additionally, Prabowo conveyed developments in Indonesia’s 2026 economy amid global economic and geopolitical volatility. One of the government’s flagship programmes is 5,000 fishing villages over the next three years, which will have ice facilities built. He also urged improvements in teachers’ welfare. The government is also promoting the management and sovereignty of the sea. Indonesia is currently the world’s largest exporter of coal, palm oil, and ferro alloy (iron alloy), with exports reaching IDR 1,100 trillion per year, but the government’s tax ratio lags behind the Philippines and Mexico. Prabowo also highlighted the declining number of the middle class and rising poverty. For full details, watch Breaking News, CNBC Indonesia (Wednesday, 20/05/2026).
