Video: Prabowo Holds Talks with Islamic Leaders, Here Is What Was Discussed!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - In a meeting between Prabowo and leaders of Islamic organisations and scholars, Prabowo explained the reasons Indonesia joined the Board of Peace, the body formed by Trump. Nahdlatul Ulama figure and Minister of ATR/BPN Nusron Wahid said that, according to Prabowo, this is a form of ikhtiar to achieve world peace, particularly in Palestine.
Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Council chair Muhadjir Effendy revealed that, according to President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s joining the Board of Peace has gone through a long process.
The same sentiment was shared by Yahya Cholil Staquf, head of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board, known as Gus Yahya. He said President Prabowo Subianto wants to use the Board of Peace as an instrument to promote de-escalation and peace from the wars currently ongoing in the Middle East.
During the meeting, President Prabowo Subianto also discussed Indonesia’s initiative to become a mediator of peace between Iran and the United States. Nusron Wahid said that Prabowo’s move to mediate between the United States, Israel, and Iran received a positive response from the world and was supported by countries in the Middle East.
After the event, Anwar Iskandar, chairman of the Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI), said that they understood Prabowo’s steps in carrying out an active and independent foreign policy, where Indonesia will not make enemies with any country or anyone, but seeks to increase friends and acquaintances around the world.
