Executive Director of the Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry Association (GIMNI), Sahat Sinaga, has confirmed palm oil entrepreneurs’ support for Indonesia’s single-door palm oil export policy through PT DSI. However, GIMNI hopes that PT DSI will act as a trade supervisor to prevent various fraudulent practices through the commodity exchange, thereby avoiding a monopoly. From the palm oil farmers’ perspective, Chairman of the Palm Oil Farmers Union (SPKS), Sabarudin, is urging the government to help restore the price of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), which has plummeted following the announcement of PT DSI’s establishment. He hopes PT DSI will become an effort to improve governance in Indonesia’s palm oil sector, considering there are around 2 million palm oil farmers, the majority of whom are independent farmers without partnerships with companies and thus require government attention.
