Video: P2SK Law Enacted, IDX President Director Reveals Progress on Exchange Demutualisation
Amidst global political and economic volatility, the President Director of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX), Jeffrey Hendrik, remains optimistic about the growth prospects of the Indonesian capital market. The IDX recorded a growth in the number of investors throughout the first half of 2026, exceeding 9 million, continuing the growth trend from 2025 which successfully added 4.5 million new investors with Single Investor Identification (SID). Currently, the IDX records a total of 29.7 million investors, with transaction values growing by over 30%, where 58% is contributed by retail investors. This reflects the success of financial literacy and is supported by public optimism regarding the prospects of the Indonesian capital market, underpinned by improvements in transparency, governance, and market integrity.
In facing market dynamics, the IDX has several strategies, including introducing products relevant to market needs such as Gold ETFs, developing the derivatives market, and preparing Single Stock Futures with underlying shares listed on the Hong Kong Exchange. The IDX is also strengthening regulations, such as policies related to the special monitoring board or the Full Call Auction (FCA) scheme, which are part of strengthening investor protection. The discussion explores the IDX’s strategies for strengthening the transformation of the Indonesian capital market and the progress of the Indonesia Stock Exchange demutualisation preparations.
