Video: OJK's Strategy to Make Healthcare Costs Efficient and Boost Confidence
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is actively working to improve the efficiency of health insurance and bolster public confidence in the sector. During the Health Insurance Ecosystem Forum 2026, themed ‘Reorganising the Health Insurance Ecosystem: New Regulations, Cost Control, and Service Model Transformation’, industry leaders and regulators gathered to discuss solutions for accelerating the growth of Indonesia’s health insurance industry.
Ogi Prastomiyono, the Executive Head of Insurance, Guarantee, and Pension Fund Supervision and Member of the OJK Board of Commissioners, highlighted the immense potential to attract new customers from the segment of the population currently relying on out-of-pocket payments, which is estimated to reach Rp 175 trillion.
To address this, OJK is collaborating with the Ministry of Health, the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), BPJS Kesehatan, and hospitals to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem. This initiative focuses on increasing health insurance efficiency and improving medical services to enhance both service delivery and public trust in insurance products. Furthermore, OJK is strengthening the role of the Health Sector Policy Committee (KKSK) to tackle healthcare issues and drive down medical costs.
