Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Disruptions to global supply chains resulting from Iran’s restriction on oil tankers, commercial vessels and fishing boats passing through the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel have raised concerns about economic disruption and pressure on global financial markets.

These conditions have driven world oil prices above USD 100 per barrel and suppressed the movement of global stock markets, which have uniformly tumbled into negative territory.

The Jakarta Stock Exchange (IHSG) closed trading on Monday, 9 March, down 3.27 per cent to 7,3367, whilst the rupiah weakened 0.21 per cent to Rp 16,935 per US dollar.

An analysis of Indonesian capital market movements is provided in detail in a report by Maria Katarina with Equity Analyst at CNBC Indonesia, Gelson Kurniawan in Closing Bell, CNBC Indonesia (Monday, 9 March 2026).
